I’m back with my latest empties and they are all ones I would happily buy again. Indeed two of them I already have! Put the kettle on, have a cuppa and as always if you’ve any questions regarding the products just get in touch. Here we go….
Jan Marini Bioclear Lotion
I’ve been using this for a few years now and once I have an empty, I buy again (always a good sign!). It’s a lightweight multi-functional resurfacing lotion formulated with glycolic, salicylic and azelaic acids that help to correct uneven texture, decongest pores and improve the appearance of mild scarring and discolouration while at the same time helping to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I apply straight after cleansing my face, avoiding the eye area. I use it two to three times a week and if I’m experiencing any breakouts I will use it more regularly. It was my sister who got me on to it when she used it to treat her pregnancy acne (with great success) I buy mine from the UK website SkinCity but always Google it as you can sometimes get some discounts. It is a super addition to your skincare cabinet. Word of advice, while it is suitable for all skin types and Jan Marini is an excellent proven skincare brand, if you have never used any AHA’s or BHA’s in your skincare go gingerly and start very slowly.
Paula’s Choice 10% Niacinamide Booster
This is a great little find! I have spoken many times about the benefits of Niacinamide (a form of Vitamin B3) as a skincare ingredient. From improving and smoothing skin texture to helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it really is a little anti-ageing skin saviour. It also helps fade any marks left over from breakouts and protects the skin’s own barrier function along with tightening and shrinking pores and improving the overall appearance of your complexion.
Paula’s formula delivers 10% Niacinamide and also includes intensely hydrating hyaluronic acid and antioxidants like Vitamin C which will help to lighten those dark spots and protect your skin from daily environmental aggressors, namely pollution and UV rays. When using it for the first time, be careful as it’s quite a watery fluid so don’t let it dribble down the bathroom sink. It has a pipette delivery system, and you can apply it straight to your skin or mix it with your serums or moisturisers. I use two to three drops and apply them straight onto my skin after cleansing in the morning, I follow them with my other serums and SPF. I then take another few drops and mix them into my Lixir Universal Emulsion and apply this to my neck and chest. I always buy it from Cloud10 Beauty (I’m on my second one, and forgot to include it in my last empties) and will again. It’s not cheap €45 but look at Garden of Wisdom Niacinamide from VictoriaHealth.com or The Ordinary Niacinamide if you would like to try an alternative.
bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner
I love bareMinerals and I first saw this eye pencil being used by Sarah Jane Froom (SJ) who is a bareMinerals International Makeup Artist. It’s a super easy-to-use twist-up pencil that glides on really easily with no dragging and gives maximum colour intensity. It has a mineral-rich formula and is soft and creamy for blending but then sets for a long-wearing finish that won’t smudge, smear or fade. Unbeknownst to me there is a built-in sharpener (had no clue) and a smudge tip for smooth, effortless blending. You can dial it up or down depending on the look you’re trying to achieve and the smudger is so handy if you’re looking for that smokey eye. It comes in some really wearable colours. Mine was and I bought it online from Debenhams I’m going to try it next
Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom
I love a Jo Malone Cologne and this one didn’t disappoint. I actually smelt it on someone else when I was out one evening and knew it was one I wanted to try for myself. As the name suggests the mimosa gives a floral character and there’s a little spiciness from the cardamom along with some hints of lemon. Tonka Bean is the base note, so vanilla is in there and smooth sandalwood and Damask rose. It is just a yummy light scent that is fresh, floral, subtly spicy and not cloying or overly sweet, a lovely summer fragrance.
I’ll be back with more empties soon!
