Empties June 2018

It doesn’t seem that long ago since my last empties blog post but I’m back with some more fantastic products and excited to share them with you! All of my June empties I will be buying again, which for me, is always a great sign. So without further ado, here they are.

First up is my Surface Radiance Cleanser from Medik8, previously known as Pore Cleanse Gel. For those unfamiliar with Medik8, it is a global award-winning brand dedicated to producing high-quality skincare products with the best ingredients at the right strengths and with a proven track record. With over 40 years combined experience in skincare research and product formulation the Medik8 team know what makes a good product a great product.

This best-selling cleanser gently renews and purifies skin to reveal a soft, radiant complexion. Formulated with mild AHA and BHA acids, it gently exfoliates and refreshes skin, decongests pores, reduces surface sebum all without leaving skin feeling dry or tight. Natural extracts also provide the skin with essential vitamins to keep it healthy. Great for oily and combination skins, it can be used both morning and evening.

Infused with an exfoliating blend of Mandelic, Lactic and Salicylic Acid, which have been selected for their gentle yet effective anti-ageing results, it is also great for those looking for a glycolic based cleanser alternative. It’s sulphate and soap free and has a lovely mild citrus scent. I use mine for my second evening cleanse. Massage a small amount into damp skin on the face and neck before rinsing with warm water. Reasonably priced, a small amount goes a long way, I got mine on Effortless Skin but there are other sites that stock it too. For more information on this and other products from Medik8 check out their website.

Sticking with acids, my next empty was Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Skin Perfecting Liquid. BHA, Beta Hydroxy Acid, is also known as salicylic acid. I had heard so much about this I just had to try. It’s their #1 product worldwide, a cult favourite and I can honestly say it lives up to all the great reviews. Suitable for all skin types, it exfoliates dead skin cells while clearing pores for a more even, radiant tone and reduces fine lines and wrinkles to reveal smoother skin.I use mine after my Surface Radiance Cleanse, I apply to a dry cotton pad and swipe over face, neck and décolleté. I let it dry for a minute or two before applying my evening treatment serum. When I’ve had blemishes, I also use this to spot treat them. It comes in a lotion and a gel version too, so depending on your skin type, you might opt for one of these. I know the gel is very good for skin with breakouts. When I bought mine, I accidentally ordered the lotion but Cloud10 Beauty were great, I returned it and they replaced it with the liquid version for me. This is one I will most definitely continue to use and repurchase.

Lastly, when my skin is looking a little tired and needs a wake up, I reach for my Lixir Vitamin C Paste.  This is one of 7 new products from Lixirskin, a new skincare brand from Colette Hayden, who has previously formulated hundreds of products for many of the most coveted beauty brands, including REN and Jo Malone.

For those who might not be too familiar about the virtues of Vitamin C, it is a wonderful molecule, one of the most active of them all and its collagen-boosting, free radical blocking and moisture locking effects when it comes in contact with cells is second to none. This has 10% L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) which works to neutralize oxidized sebum and revive dull skin and it certainly revived mine. It also helps tackle free radicals, helps collagen production and protects elastin, leaving your complexion radiant, luminous and more even toned. When you use for the first time, you may notice a distinct scent, and not necessarily of Jasmine and Mandarin which are among the ingredients listed. Suffice to say, you get used to it.

Lixirskin suggest using it every morning for a few minutes or, on those rare days when you have time, for longer. I have been using when I feel my skin really needs a brightening boost and yes time permitting, I will leave it for at least 10-15 minutes as this turbo charges the efficacy of the treatment. Apply a good pea sized amount into your palm and warm before massaging with damp fingers all around the face and neck and down to the deck too if you wish! Rinse off with a warm wash cloth or like I do, in the shower. This pretty pink tube packs quite a punch. I bought mine from the wonderful Irish website Fetch Beauty.

If you have tried any of my June empties or you decide to try, let me know what you think.
